{"id":4769,"date":"2017-05-10T16:13:17","date_gmt":"2017-05-10T15:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.riversidecampus.com\/bridge\/?page_id=4769"},"modified":"2024-05-07T15:24:45","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T14:24:45","slug":"extended-school-activities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.riversidebridge.com\/?page_id=4769","title":{"rendered":"EXTENDED CURRICULUM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #5fadc7;\"><strong>________________________ Extended Curriculum<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>The Extended Curriculum encompasses all activities that take place outside the normal school day.<\/h5>\n<h5>The provision of these\u00a0 \u2018Extended\u00a0 Curriculum\u2019 opportunities is developed as a direct result of the school\u2019s ethos:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5>to present children with challenges that will equip them to become more resilient and realise their full potential<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>\u00a0to help children realise their own self-worth<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>to develop self-esteem and independence<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>\u00a0to develop skills in particular areas<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>\u00a0to develop pupils\u2019 interest in leisure time activities out of school<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>\u00a0to develop both fine and gross motor skills and co-ordination and balance<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>to develop social, communication and behaviour skills<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5>to improve fitness levels and develop awareness of having a healthy lifestyle<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>As a fully inclusive school, we aim to encourage and include as many of our pupils as possible to take part in extended school activities.<\/h5>\n<h5>We have reviewed our extra-curricular activities to\u00a0give our pupils as many opportunities as possible to be part of a team, group or club where they can develop personally, socially and learn new skills as well as the possibility to develop further their understanding of healthy living habits.<\/h5>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>Riverside Bridge School is committed to promoting the health and well-being of all pupils and staff through physical activity. The aspiration in developing this is to influence the whole school community to establish and maintain lifelong physical activity habits.<\/h5>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>Riverside Bridge School strives to maximise opportunities for children, young people and all associated with the school to be physically active by promoting all avenues for activity. This includes the extended curriculum, the environment and the wider community.<\/h5>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>Each half term the Healthy Living Team will be offering different sports and food &amp; nutritional based activities after school.
