They may be abused by an adult or adults, or another child or children.&#8217;<\/i><\/h5>\n<h5>There are four categories of Child Abuse:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><em>Emotional harm<\/em> such as making a child feel unloved or useless or constantly putting them down.\u00a0It may involve serious bullying (including cyber-bullying), causing children to frequently feel frightened or in danger, or the exploitation or corruption of children.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5><em>Physical abuse\u00a0<\/em>such as hitting, shaking, throwing, poisoning, burning or scalding, drowning, suffocating, or otherwise causing physical harm to a child.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5><em>Sexual abuse<\/em> such as forcing a child to take part in any sexual activity.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5><em>Neglect<\/em> means not providing a child with enough for their basic needs e.g. enough food, clothes, medical care.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #5fadc7;\"><strong>The Role of School Staff <\/strong><\/span><em>from Keeping Children Safe in Education (2022)<\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5>School staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early, provide early help for children and prevent concerns from escalating.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5><b>All <\/b>school staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn.<\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h5><b>All<\/b> school staff should be prepared to identify children who may benefit from early help.
