Riverside Bridge School is part of Partnership Learning. The Local Governing Body works alongside the Trust to ensure strong governance, effective accountability and continuous improvement, while maintaining a clear focus on the needs of Riverside Bridge School and its community.

The Local Governing Body meets regularly throughout the year to review the school's performance, monitor progress against priorities and support strategic decision-making.

Governors receive information from school leaders, visit the school and ask questions to ensure that pupils are receiving the best possible education and support. They consider a wide range of areas, including:

  • pupils’ outcomes and progress,
  • safeguarding and pupil welfare,
  • attendance and behaviour,
  • curriculum development,
  • personal development and preparation for adulthood,
  • staffing and workforce development,
  • finance and resources,
  • health and safety.

This collective approach ensures that all governors maintain oversight of the school's work and contribute to decision-making on behalf of the whole school community.

Meeting the school community

Governors regularly visit the school to develop their understanding of the provision and the experiences of pupils.

These visits provide opportunities to:

  • meet pupils and staff,
  • observe learning and school activities,
  • understand school priorities,
  • monitor the impact of improvement work.

This helps ensure that governance decisions are informed by first-hand knowledge of the school and its community.

The impact of governance

Effective governance helps ensure that Riverside Bridge School continues to develop and improve for the benefit of all pupils.

Through strategic leadership, careful oversight and a commitment to continuous improvement, governors help ensure that decisions remain focused on what matters most: providing a safe, ambitious and inclusive education that enables every pupil to thrive.

By working closely with school leaders, staff, families and the Trust, the Local Governing Body helps ensure that Riverside Bridge School continues to deliver high-quality provision and positive outcomes for all pupils.
